President Trump’s Chief of Staff John Kelly will be leaving his post at the end of the year, one that he has held for the last year and half. The resignation was first reported by Axios. There is no question that that particular position is hard to hold onto. This role includes presiding over the White House staff and deciding who can meet with the President, as well as managing the President’s schedule.
Former President Obama had five chief of staffs in his eight years in office. Now the question is who Pres. Trump will pick to fill the role. There are several rumors swirling that who could replace John Kelly. One of them is Vice President Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff Nick Ayers.
My take: It is a perfect time to replace him. It is after a nasty campaign season in the midterm elections and it is the end of 2018. I think that this is a smart move by President Trump because a new year is coming up. Whomever the President picks, hopefully they will be able to maintain order in the White House. As we have seen many times, the White House can become a little chaotic at times.
